Emloyers Ready For Noise At Work Regulations?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is holding two half-day sessions at the City of Manchester Stadium, asking 'How Prepared is Your Business' for the new noise and vibration at work regulations.

The events take place on Thursday 23 March and are aimed at those responsible for managing risk, including managers, safety advisors and safety representatives.

They focus on new EU based regulations on noise and vibration which require employers to manage the disabling - yet preventable - risks of noise induced hearing loss and hand arm vibration syndrome.

Each session - starting at 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. - will focus on:

* Explanation of the Control of Noise at Work Regs 2005 and the Control of Vibration at Work Regs 2005;
* Practical approaches to managing and controlling the risks;
* The requirements of health surveillance; and
* Question and answer sessions with the event's expert HSE speakers.

Speakers at the events are David Ashton, HSE Regional Director for the North West, noise and vibration specialist inspector Dr David Smeatham and Dr Julian Smith, an HSE medical inspector.
