Connect Call For Guidance On Fight Against Bullying

BT Union Connect have laid down a proposition to the TUC Congress 2006 being held in Brighton 11-14 September, calling for further guidance in the campaign against workplace bullies.

The terms of the prop to be debated by some 800 delegates will at the 138th TUC Congress calls upon the General Council to:

" build upon the excellent TUC/Industrial Society guide Beat Bullying at Work produced in 1999 and draw up further guidance for affiliated
unions including:

i) examples of collective responses to workplace bullying that have been developed by affiliated unions;

ii) the identification of new forms of workplace bullying such as the abuse of performance management and discipline procedures; and

iii) monitoring and sharing initiatives to identify and tackle patterns of workplace bullying.

Health and safety related draft motions are concentrated in the 'protecting people at work' part of the agenda for this year's congress, which can be downloaded here.
