Tyre Gauges Issued For BT Vehicles

CWU have issued an LTB to all Branche s advising them that all drivers of BT vehicles are being issued with a tyre pressure gauge suitable for their vehicle when they make a stores order.

Branches are asked to ensure that members are aware of this fact and that members are encouraged to use the tyre gauge. Drivers should check their tyre pressures regularly in order to stay safe on the roads. Drivers should always check tyre pressures when tyres are cold, as the temperature of the air inside the tyre increases rapidly when driving.

Tyre pressure is a critical element of vehicle safety. Correct tyre pressure helps you brake, steer and corner more safely. Under-inflated tyres can cause overheating, which can result in tyre failure.

To check the recommended tyre pressure level for your vehicle, refer to the manufacturer's information, which can be found (depending on make and type of) in the vehicle manual/log book or on a label or a plate inside the driver's door, inside the glove box or inside the flap to the fuel filler cap. Alternatively, drivers can find the information from their repair workshops.
