"I am in my early 40s, and I have always believed that everyone should be able to work in a safe and secure environment and that everyone is entitled to be treated equally and with respect.

That's probably why I have been a union member for 30 years, joining the EEPTU in 1979.

For the past 12 years I have been assistant Secretary of the Mid. Lancs. Branch for the CWU & I have been an accredited Union Safety Representative for the last 9 years.

In September '08 I took over the role of Health & Safety co-ordinator of the Branch.

Also up to now I have attended five CWU conferences to enable me to familiarise myself with union business.

I have held quite a few roles within the Union & the company, which has given me a wide range of experiences to draw on as a Health & Safety champion. From 13th April '05 I was voted in as the vice chair of the Engineers Co-ord committee.

On a personal level I am married and have two daughters.

In my free time I like to scuba dive, my family & I go for walks (usually in the Lake District) or go on bicycle rides through the local woods or along the canal and I like to spend time with the rest of my family."
