Mental Health Not A Priority At Labour's Party Conference 2024

On the list of priority topics to be debated at this week's Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, the issue of Mental Health is highlighted in a motion from Young Labour.

But the only problem is that it is listed to be part of the priorities ballot for conference delegates to decide upon which 'Topics' will be debated this week.

The terms of the proposed motion are worthy of debate and is a crucial issue, given the state of mental healthcare in England:

When the ballot took place, this topic was NOT selected to be debated.

One of the reasons for the plight of mental health in the UK is the lack of funding for the NHS Mental Health care services. the closure of most NHS mental health hospitals and the move to privatisation of support and treatment services.

Amazingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, there is no topic of NHS Privatisation listed amongst the topics to be debated, leaving the Labour Party membership with no voice on the intention of increasing the involvement of private health companies and business interests within the NHS.
